For those of you who attended our service of repentance yesterday please hear Jesus speak these words to you.
Sunday, I am preaching on the difficult topic of repentance. It is difficult because unless you acknowledge something as a sin, you are unable to repent. We are currently living in a culture that has little sense of sin - personally or corporately. Yet, it is present even if we do not acknowledge it. We violate the moral code of God repeatedly. I pray that you will come to church on Sunday and let's wrestle with our need to repent. (Music Video is 4 minutes 38 seconds) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TlARyE78vjw
re·pent·ance [rəˈpentəns] NOUN repentances (plural noun) the action of repenting; sincere regret or remorse. "each person who turns to God in genuine repentance and faith will be saved" synonyms: remorse · contrition · contriteness · penitence · sorrow · sorrowfulness · regret · ruefulness · remorsefulness · pangs of conscience · prickings of conscience · shame · guilt · self-reproach · self-condemnation · compunction · conversion · rue · sorriness
As we move more deeply into the season of Lent, we are called toward a deeper level of repentance, fasting, and preparation for Easter. The wilderness lies before us. The river continues to flow into the valley ahead. God is with us as we wrestle with the profound things of God. "Return to me, with all your heart", we hear God saying.
Bishop Nunn's Thoughts Upon General Conference Called Session. You will need to click on the picture to get the article.
General Conference of the United Methodist Church finished their work today. The current position of the United Methodist Church on issues of human sexuality and marriage were continued. Some greater freedom was granted for those whose conscience lead them to exit the denomination to take material possessions such as property and finances with them. Some increased resources for accountability to live within the covenants we agreed to as members, clergy, and congregations were made available. Emotionally we are raw, wounded, and aware of how much evil can exist in the midst of people of love and grace. Now we watch the press and public spin it while we process and seek God's healing and our deeper understanding. Tomorrow, I will continue to serve a risen Savior who gave his life without reservation for those who will embrace His truth.
Wichitas District Gathering in Duncan, February 16 is cancelled.
Cache First, Find some time on February 23 to pray for the future of the denomination to which we belong. Pray for the power of the Holy Spirit to permeate the conversations. Pray that the outcome is not our will, but God's Will. Pray that gracious exits are provided for those whose consciences will no longer allow them to stay in the new United Methodist Church which emerges.

As we deal with the media barrage of negative news, Christ's church invites all to observe a calm and bright Christmas. Let the peace of that night when God became incarnate, Immanuel, God-With-Us, by entering into our struggles as a baby, tender and mild; with the power of Angels and the Star of Bethlehem guiding the way. This Advent Season, we invite you to enjoy a Calm and Bright Christmas.
This Advent we Celebrate the birth of Jesus in a Very Different Way!
This Sunday at 4 p.m. I will lead a Worship Design Time to get out on the table our options for Advent and Christmas. This year our theme will be Calm and Bright. There are options for families, outreach, arts, music, media. I envision that it is time for us to use the stone soup formula and give everyone a chance to offer thier gifts. Together we will offer Cache a chance to renew their faith in Christ and in peaceful living with one another despite our differences. My prayer is for a renewed sense of calm to permeate our souls. Please come and take responsibility to make something happen as part of our Worship Design Team.
Come and Explore Christmas at Cache First where we believe that hospitality is a doorway into friendship and we can all use more friends. "Don't forget to show hospitality to strangers, for some who have done this have entertained angels without realizing it!" (Hebrews 13:2)
It is Monday, and I am thinking about the Barn Swallows we have hosted this summer, and that time and place when they leave the nest. At some point they have to believe that what they see their parents and others do, they can do. Then they have to feel like they can act on that belief and good things will happen. Then they have to trust that God has given them the ability to fly. Are you ready to fly? Is your faith able to trust God? Face the fear, and do it anyway.
I was a little late. This is the beginning of the wind down.
